A blizzard watch has been issued Monday night through Tuesday night for Greater Boston, Plymouth County, and southeast coastal Massachusetts, as a nor’easter is expected to slam the area Tuesday.

Snow should break out between 4 and 7 a.m. Tuesday, intensifying through the late morning with the heaviest snow continuing through the early evening.

Central and eastern Massachusetts are expected to be hit hardest, with 12 to 18 inches of snow projected, while the Cape will likely only get 3 to 6 inches. Wind gusts could reach 45 to 50 miles per hour.
